Our forefathers designed our proud nation to be a land of freedom and opportunity for all, and designed it as such to foster economic growth and free enterprise. But a select few individuals discovered that they could manipulate the system in their favor. Two hundred, even one hundred years ago, these individuals would have been sent to prison or even hanged for what they have done to the American People. But today, this elite group not only gets away with stealing billions and billions of dollars from us each year, they actually get a pat on the back for it from the government and a thank you from us.
I am talking about the infiltration into our everyday lives by corporations whose sole purpose is to make themselves as much money as possible with no regard to the consumer. The petroleum industry. Wal-Mart. The health insurance industry. The housing loan industry. Fast food. Even bottled water. Now I am just a big of consumer as the next person, don't get me wrong. I love fast food, like Wal-Mart's prices, I need health insurance, and I would like to own a house. However, the companies and corporations responsible for these products are just the opposite of that. They are the most irresponsible groups of individuals on the planet. They DO NOT CARE about the everyday individual, how their products effect us, or what the cost is. They only care about one thing: Money.
I call our great nation the United Corporation of America because we the people have quietly allowed these things to happen to us. Most of the time, we just sit back and take the abuse and allow it to happen. Sometimes, we even thank those that harm us the most. We have voted in officials that are responsible for insuring our freedoms and those that are supposed to be protecting our best interests because they promise us the world. But in truth, they have ceased to serve us. They now serve the corporation.
For instance, look at the new health care bill. President Obama had a wonderful vision when he started his term. He envisioned a world where health insurance companies no longer existed, plain and simple. He tried and tried and tried to push us into the realm of civilized nations such as England, France, Germany, and even Canada, where insurance companies ceased to exist years and decades ago. Yes, their sales taxes are a little higher, but what does it get them? No insurance premiums. No copays. No deductibles. No coverage denials. Anyone who is a legal citizen can walk into a doctor's office completely free of charge and receive treatment. Is that so bad? Apparently, it is.
After a long fight, we now have a viable healthcare bill in our hands. But look at what it does. It spends hundreds of billions of dollars on insurance credits. Where does all that money go? It does NOT go into the hands of the doctors who treat us. It instead goes straight into the hands of health insurance giants. Our hard earned tax money goes straight into the coffers of big business. Yes, we will have private health insurance that is a little cheaper and available to the poor, but for some reason, we could not seem to bypass the insurance giants. The bill was only approved once the insurance companies got paid. How many billions of dollars will get wasted paying the more than unnecessary middle man?
And we call this progress.
Over the next year I will post one topic a week for you the reader to consider. I am not a communist. I am not a tree hugger. I am in no means against our nation or our government; I would gladly lay down my life defending our nation and my fellow Americans. I am simply a citizen born into the greatest nation the world has seen since Rome who is sorely disappointed with the way our nation has been run the last fifty years, of which I have only been alive for the last twenty seven. I am tired of living in the United Corporation of America.
Lets get the United States of America back.
